You can upgrade your train by clicking any rout, then an icon which show you types of train will appear, the speed and how many cars it can hold, of course you must choose the upgrade button of the train that is faster and can hold a lot of passengers.

To know when will the next train will arrive in your country you can always check your train schedule. At the left side of the railroad crossing are trains that are in transit. There will be an indicator of time about how long it will arrive in your country.

Buildings are necessary because it would allow citizens to reside in your country, this will result in increasing number of passengers in the train, you must build residential buildings or commercial buildings from the store to invite more citizens in your city.
